The India Game Developers Conference 2018 highlights


The 10th edition of The India Game Developers Conference was one of the most significant events in South Asia. Formerly known as the NASSCOM Game Developers Conference, it plays a key role in the Indian gaming ecosystem. 2018 has attracted over 3000 industry professionals and over 100 industry expert speakers on 8 major tracks.

"On the 10th anniversary of the conference we decided that it was time to rebrand NGDC to The India Game Developer Conference, to more accurately reflect a platform that has grown from strength to strength over the last decade, to become the must-attend conference for games in India," said chair of the IGDC advisory committee Rajesh Rao.

Kashish Malhotra and Siddharth Sehra from TAB's office in Delhi have attended the event this year and shared their highlights.



  • The event concentrated around 4 key topics:
  • The event program touched on the current game publishers and how they reach user acquisition in India. Not only are they leveraging in branding activities but use Facebook audience network.
  • Soft launch to success session provided information on A/B testing with publishers and UI/UX changes to get better results. It also spoke on international games entering and looking at Indian market as a raising opportunity. “There’s every reason to believe that this industry is maturing very rapidly and this is a great time for all developers to look at India very seriously,” said the event organizer Rajesh Rao.
  • Companies that really stood out in their keynotes were MechMocha, Nazara games, Google, 99 Games and Tencent games.
  • The India Game Developers Conference became the flagship event for a new initiative, IndiaJoy: a week-long showcase of games, animation and VFX organized by the State of Telangana.
